From the Principal

February, 2017

Greetings! Winter has finally arrived and with it are a flurry of activities and happenings at Oakland.

Winter Weather Gear
Students go outside for recess everyday unless the wind chill or temperatures are below 10 degrees. Keep in mind though, even on those days, students will be standing outside for pickup and need to be dressed in all their cold weather gear. If your child needs to stay in from recess, a Dr’s note is required. If students are well enough to be at school, we expect they are well enough for recess.

100th Day of School
On 2/14 we will be celebrating the 100th day of school! Students can wear a shirt decorated with 100 things on this day. Navy bottoms are still required.

Snow Day
Snow days are always announced on the school Face book page, WWMT Channel 3, and WOOD TV Channel 8. If you haven’t already “liked” us on Facebook, please do! It’s quickest way to hear about closings, schedule changes, and other important school information.

Winter NWEA
Winter NWEA testing is wrapping up. Teachers will be using this information to plan leveled grouping and to differentiate for students in their class. If you want to inquire on your child’s progress, just ask their teacher.

Here is a quick reference for upcoming dates:

PTO Mtg. 2/21, 8:30am
Open House 2/23, 5-6pm

As always I can be contacted with questions or concerns by email sboris@fbrcs.org, or by phone here at school.

Thank You,
