Third Grade

I am very excited about this upcoming school year.  This will be my fourth year teaching third grade and my sixth year teaching for the Academies.  As well as working in third grade, I have taught second and fourth grades.  I have taught at two of our sister schools, Arbor and Oakland Academies, and am very excited to be a part of Evergreen Academy.  I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Publishing and Editing from Western Michigan University in 2003 and then my Teaching Certification from Grand Valley State University in 2007.  I love to have a lot of fun and think school should be something to look forward to every day.  Be prepared to laugh, learn and work hard this year in third grade.

This year you will be learning lots of interesting things.  Some of these include learning how to write in cursive, learning your multiplication and division facts, and doing research projects.  In science, we will journey to space, as well as study earth, life, and physical sciences.  Be prepared for a few take-home projects as well!  In social studies you will get to learn about the history of our state and how it came to be.

If you wish to volunteer your time, we always welcome the help in the classroom.  Students love to have someone to read with, or simply run through flashcards with.  If you have a particular talent or skill that you think the class would love to experience, please let me know so we can arrange a time for you to come in.

Enjoy your last days of vacation!  Our first day of school will be on Tuesday, September 4th.  I look forward to seeing all of you!
