3rd Grade – Lemley

January Newsletter

With winter weather threatening daily, please make sure to send your student to school prepared to go outside at recess, unless it is below 10 F.   Students should bring an extra pair of shoes to wear in the classroom to prevent the spread of salt onto the carpet. Thank you!

Hopefully, your child worked hard over winter break to master their multiplication facts. We are beginning division now, and knowing these facts is essential.

An important part of our reading curriculum is spelling.  We are practicing our spelling during our Daily Five times, but this is not enough.  Students should be bringing their lists home daily and preparing for the pre-test on Thursday and the final test on Friday.

Science & Social/Studies:
We are finishing up our study of the solar system this month.  Our social studies curriculum will be covering economics and how our money system works.

We are writing an opinion piece  this month.  Students will be  giving their opinions and reasons on many varied topics.  Stay tuned for these writing pieces to come home.

There will be no school on Monday, January 16, in commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr.
